Overview:
An overview of the Hearing Conservation Standard along with an explanation of how employees can damage their hearing on the job and at home. The presentation also discusses engineering, administrative and personal protection processes that can be used to reduce the employee’s exposure to noise. 

Learning Objectives:
 
• Understanding how we hear and how loud noises can be detrimental to hearing; 
• The physiology of hearing loss; 
• An example of tinnitus and its impact on quality of life; 
• How to incorporate engineering and administrative measures for controlling noise generation; 
• Examples of noise levels for common employment tasks;
• Selection and verification of proper personal hearing protection devices; and 
• How to use hearing PPE. 

Participant Profile

Any employee subject to high noise levels.
